License information for the illustrations

One Time-Use:

Most people who buy images from this site will likely only need a one-time use license. This means the images may be used a single time for advertising, promotion, communication, and editorial use in the following mediums; web site graphics, internet banners, print and broadcast ads, newspapers, books, direct mail, consumer magazines, trade magazines, annual reports, billboards, point-of-sale displays, brochures, newsletters, invitations, signs, transit boards, sales kits, trade show displays, and free promotional items.

Images may be used for more than one project if the projects are related. For example: an image can used multiple times for related business uses such as logos, letterheads, promotional items and related website graphics and there is no limit on how many of these can be printed as long as the illustration is part of a logo. If you are unsure please inquire. You may not use an image outside of this such as a book illustration or for another unrelated project. Please call 1 (800) 913-7906 if you have any questions.

If you intend to use the image as part of a logo by adding text or other element to change it into a new, unique image you will not need an extended license. Here is an example of a company using an image (the Clownfish) in their logo:

Extended License:

Should you want to print these images on products such as clothing other types of fabrics or wearable items, product packaging or other merchandise/products that are mass produced, and the image is the primary selling point of the product you must purchase a extended license. Generally, the images may be purchased with an extended license at checkout. If you do not see a category that matches your needs please pick the closest one, or contact the artist at 1 800 913-9706. Here's an example of a product that would need an extended license:

The shirt shows the illustration and would be the primary selling point of the product. If the image is altered to include text and a company logo, it would most likely not require an extended license.

General Information regarding use of the images:

 You may not use any image found on this site for any illegal or fraudulent purpose or to promote pornographic and/or obscene material. The images may not be distributed on a photo CD, website or by any other means intended to provide images for use in printing, building websites, etc.

Also, you may not re-license, sell, or permit others to use images licensed from Inkart Productions for design, advertising, journalistic purposes, etc..  For example, you may purchase a license on behalf of a client while designing an advertisement for them but you may not then use that image for other clients.

Special consideration is given to environmental organizations and non-profits and in some cases the images can be used without a fee. If the images are being reproduced (shirts, flyers, signs, etc) the artist may request either the actual item or photos of the reproduction. This is how I make a living, so please remember that if you request to use an image please try and help out by either providing a link to the site, blogging about the artwork, 'liking' my Facebook page, or purchasing a print of the image. Educators and students may use the images for classes or reports without first obtaining permission, all others please email first to request use of an image.
